An anti-DUI Campaign in Contra Costa county has netted 346 arrests since December 14th. The county also has the Avoid the 25 campaign to encourage people not to drive after drinking copious amounts of alcohol.
The campaign has included a couple of intensive “saturation” patrols of DUI checkpoints in the past 2 weeks. Identical campaigns are being conducted in the other eight Bay Area counties.
Through this past Saturday, seven people have died in crashes where at least one driver was impaired due to alcohol. That is equal to last year’s total for December. The number of arrests and stops is expected to top 4000. Last year’s total was under 4000. Between mid-December and New Year’s Day last year, officers stopped 3,037 people. Through this past Saturday, officers had arrested 2,443 people on suspicion of driving under the influence.
If you or someone you know has been arrested on charges of driving under the influence, a criminal lawyer is what is needed. Contact the San Jose criminal lawyers of the Law Offices of Daniel Jensen to discuss your case.
