A Golden Gate woman accused of battery during a confrontation with a housemate was cleared by a jury recently. Eseline Joseph, 27, had been charged with the misdemeanor for allegedly attacking Ann Gabriel, breaking her arm, and stomping on her as she lay on the ground.
Joseph maintained that she had acted in self defense after Gabriel struck her following an argument. Her defense attorney also pointed out problems in the prosecution’s testimony, saying that Gabriel’s injuries were inconsistent with Joseph’s alleged actions.
