Defense attorneys in New Hampshire are questioning the actions of police after they did nothing to intervene in a domestic violence situation between Kenneth Countie and Sheila LaBarre, despite knowing that LaBarre has a history of violent behavior.
Although the police admit to knowing the statewide suggested protocols for handling a domestive violence situation, the police did nothing to intervene in the situation between LaBarre and her boyfriend.
LaBarre has admitted to murdering Countie and other boyfriend, but is pleading insanity. The Defense team is placing a great deal of blame on the local authorities for failing to take the appropriate action to stop LaBarre from harming others.
The trial is now expected to continue for longer than originally expected. Should LaBarre be found insane, she will most likely sent to a psychiatric unit in a state prison.
