Deadly Drinking Games

July 7th, 2008 · No Comments

Jenna Foellmi, a 20 year old biochemistry major, died of alcohol poisoning last December. She had fallen asleep with several other friends in the house and was found dead the next morning.

The number of alcoholic related death among college students has nearly doubled in the last several years according to the Associated Press. Over half of the victims were under the legal drinking age of 21.

In most cases, the friends knew the victim was drunk and put them to bed, so they could sleep. Charges are filed in approximately 40% of the cases generally against those who provided alcohol for someone underage. Generally, plea bargains are reached and a combination of fines, community service, and probation is served.
